Chimney Sweeps are not regulated by the government. So, virtually anyone can start a business and call him or herself a sweep. Unfortunately, a lot of fraud and scam artists took advantage of people under the guise of working as chimney sweeps.

"Hi-my name is Skip Creswell. Years ago I graduated fromThe New England School of Chimney Sweeping under the tutelage of Ken Hinckley one of the original founders of the National Chimney Sweep Guild. This was my first certification. This facility was the only state licensed trade school of its kind in the entire country.Later I became certified through the National Chimney Sweep Guild.I have a working knowlege of several code books concerning chimneys and venting systems I am a CSIA certified chimney technician and NFI Certified Wood Pellet and Gas Specialist. I am also a F.I.R.E Certified Chimney and Fireplace Inspector. All of our technicians are required to become CSIA certified.We require all employees to take a time tested customer service course and pass a customer service exam. We perform backround checks, credit analysis, and random drug testing. Each Ace Chimney Sweeps Technician has excellent diagnostic skills, and uses correct sweeping procedures. Each understands proper analysis and documentation procedures, and each sweep is skilled in proper repair of all facets of the chimney.

In addition, Ace Chimney Sweeps maintains a rigorous training schedule and a strict code of ethics:

1. Continuing Education - We believe in staying up to date in the leading circles of sweep education. We are members of the National Chimney Sweep Guild, and through the guild we take advantage of opportunities for ongoing training. Each year we send sweeps to the national Chimney Convention to learn the latest techniquest, technologies, and strategies in sweeping, and to increase their level of expertise.

2. The Right Equipment - We also know that to provide superior services, we have to have the right tools, so we've made significant investments in professional equipment --including scaffolding, cameras, rods, brushes, trucks, ladders and vaccums-- so that we can handle virtually any job.

3. We are punctual - We take pride in being at your home on time. Now, sometimes there are things that are simply out of our control, but we emphasize punctuality and take pride in treating you with the respect that you deserve. It's true that even though we're doing our best, some things may cause delays that are completely out of our control, but when these situations arise, we do all we can to contact you and keep you informed, and if necessary, to reschedule an appointment.

4. We are fully insured - While we do all we can to avoid problems, it's always a good policy to have insurance on hand.

5. Appearance - We wear clean uniforms, our sweeps arrive in clean vehicles, and each of our sweeps intoduces themselves so that they are easy to identify.

6. Sound Business Practices - We do our best to foster sound business practices and develop good character. This can't be quantified, but we're sure that you'd agree that common decency, manners, honesty, and graciousness are important in any business. 7. Office/shop/retail-We maintain a staffed office on a busy 4 lane highway during normal business hours. We don't work out of our home. Customers can visit our location to schedule work or to browse our inventory for purchases. We are easy to find.

8. Well Stocked Trucks- Each of our service trucks( we are a multi truck operation) is stocked full with the most common items you'll need for onsite repairs and/or retail items. No need for several trips to get the job done right the first time. Your time is too valuable to spend waiting around for services that could have been done on the first visit.

9. Employess paid good wages- We believe well paid employess, with benefits, who are paid by the hour (not by piece work), exceed customer expectations time after time. It's simple- a happy worker does a better job. They aren't tempted to rush through your job or be dishonest in evaluating the condition of your chimney.

10. Full time year round- WE aren't moonlighters or part time weekend sweeps. This is a serious full time, year round business. We appreciate your patronage, and strive to justify your every confidence in us when we work for you. We don't offer handy man services like power washing or driveway sealing roofing or housepanting. We offer only one other non-chimney related homeowner service, Leafproof Gutter and Downspot Protection Installations. We are very busy with chimney work . Ethical Standards and Professional Business Practices

We promise to only do work that needs to be done.

We are a chimney company and we are of course alert for chimney problems, which we are prepared to address. However, we will never manufacture problems. We understand the problem in the marketplace and give you our assurance we are not part of the problem. All technicians have cameras and can show pictures of the problem areas.

We enforce this policy and would fire any employee ever found misleading our customers.

We promise to take time to do it right - the first time.

You don't want a sloppy job. We won't skip steps; we want you to like the job we do. No shoddy workmanship.

We promise to use only high quality materials- no shoddy materials.

We promise to be punctual.

When we give you a window of arrival, we have a 97% on-time arrival within that window. In fact, we are over 85% within the first fifteen minutes of the window. We know of no one who matches our on time arrival record. If we foresee any problem, the men have cell phones and will call you in a reasonable amount of time to advise or reschedule.

We promise to be reliable.

We believe in keeping promises. If there's a problem or additional work to do at your home, we'll come back when we say we will, and we?ll finish the things we start.

We'll also make every effort to do all this for you in a reasonable timeframe.

We'll be easy to communicate with. If you call us, we'll call you back in a timely fashion.

We promise to give a good presentation of ourselves.

Appearance: All of our people will be clean (keeping in mind that we often get dirty doing our day's work of course!) in dress and hygiene.

Vehicle: We will keep our vehicles clean and in good working order. We understand nobody wants a rattletrap truck in the driveway.

Behavior on the job: Our people will always refrain from foul language. We have strict no drugs or alcohol, and no smoking on the job policy.

We know your home is your castle and will treat it accordingly.

We use drop cloths and dust control. Our systems provide against dust in your home.

We will take care not to track dirt or mud onto your home, or get things we touch dirty. We wear booties to keep from soiling your carpets.

If the job is outside, we'll take the same care of your house, roof, yard, etc.

And of course, we clean up after ourselves. We leave your home as good or better than when we arrived.

We promise that we are actually competent.

We have CSIA certified people on staff. The Chimney Safety Institute of America sets standards for chimney sweeps and administers a test, with retesting each three years to maintain certification. Employees who aren't yet certified are in preparation for certification, and work under the supervision of someone who is certified. These people are only given work equal to their level of training. We won't send someone out to practice on you!

The owner of the company has personally done this work for over 22 years, and has personally worked on over 10,000 chimneys. There are over 16,000 happy customers in our database.

We also continue our education by attending workshops, conferences, etc.
